Mythic Con West 2026

Author:

This past weekend I attended Mythic Con West in Asheville, NC. I did not run (GM) any games but instead went as a player to try new game systems I have not played before. The game systems I tried was Outgunned, Mythic, Gamma World and Star Pulp HERO.

I backed the first Outgunned Kickstarter several years ago but have never tried the game. I did enjoy playing it because it seems to work very well for quick short games.

Mythic is a new game in development that is planned to be released through Kickstarter at some point in the future (I would guess sometime in 2026 though I do not know for sure). The GM used a large 3d printed building as well as miniatures for the game. This game has a lot of potential.

I have purchased Gamma World game materials before, but I never got to actually play it. The GM used 3rd edition of the game with the action table. I particularly enjoyed this because I have always wanted to use that table in some of my games that I run but never got around to it. The GM had some magnetic blocks that were used to create some basic terrain and I found them very appealing.

While I have purchased some of the HERO games materials in the past, I have not got to play that particular game system before. In addition to miniatures the GM used some large battle maps (I think they might have been produced by Paizo but I am not sure).

Overall, I had a good time and would recommend Mythic Con West to anyone that is looking for a good game convention. It was not too large and had a variety of people attending ranging from elementary school aged to people who were retired. The photo above shows one of the gaming rooms being used during the convention.
