Dungeon Battle Tile 19 – Challenge 6

“That was a nasty plunge. I don’t even know why I done it either. One second I was standing at the top of the ledge close to the ladder waiting for my turn to climb down and the next thing I knew I just had an urge to leap off the ledge into the river. Those nasty biting fish in the river didn’t make it any better either. With my short legs at least I was not able to jump too far from the bank. The worst part was having to take my heavy breastplate off so I could swim out. We never could figure out a way to get it off the bottom of the river with all them biting fish in there. I sure will miss it.” Ardek the Dwarf.

This Dungeon Battle Tile features a challenge for characters to overcome. When the party enters the room they will see two bridges giving a way to cross a slowly moving underground river (20′ in depth) in order to reach the other side of the room where a ladder descends into a pit located beside the river. The pit contains a small wooden shed with a mixture of bones and blood scattered around the room. While the shed contains small viewing cracks in the walls allowing occupants to see outside individuals inside the shed have total cover against missile attacks launched from the ledge above the pit. This encounter is designed to have a monster (or two) located in the shed that is capable of using innate powers to attack intruders on the ledge. In addition to attack powers the monsters could also have controlling powers to cause intruders to jump off the ledge, or bridge, into the water. The GM should also feel free to have some carnivorous fish in the river to attack anyone ending up in the river.
